SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT ABOUT AN INTERMITTENT "HOOT" TYPE NOISE OR SOUND COMING FROM THE OUTSIDE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE CAN BEST BE DESCRIBED AS THE SOUND MADE WHEN BLOWING ACROSS THE TOP OF A GLASS POP BOTTLE.
OUTSIDE AIR (WIND) MAY MOVE ACROSS THE OPENING BETWEEN THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR BACKGLASS LACE MOLDING AND THE FRONT EDGE OF THE DECK (TRUNK) LID.
INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL LACE MOLDING TO THE EXISTING REAR BACKGLASS LOWER LACE MOLDING USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE.
SERVICE PROCEDURE -
1. OPEN THE DECK (TRUNK) LID TO THE FULL OPEN POSITION.
2. CLEAN THE EXISTING BACKGLASS LOWER LACE MOLDING WITH GLASS CLEANER OR MILD SOAP AND WATER.
3. STARTING AT EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, INSTALL THE NEW LACE OVER THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE EXISTING BACKGLASS LOWER LACE MOLDING. SEE FIGURE 1.
4. AFTER THE NEW LACE MOLDING HAS BEEN INSTALLED, PEEL BACK BOTH ENDS OF THE NEW LACE MOLDING APPROXIMATELY 25 MM (1 IN).
5. CAREFULLY APPLY A SMALL BEAD OF 3M(R) #08011 BLACK WEATHERSTRIP ADHESIVE (OR EQUIVALENT) APPROXIMATELY 25 MM (1 IN) LONG INSIDE THE ENDS OF THE NEW LACE MOLDING AS SHOWN IN FIGURE 1.
6. REPOSITION BOTH ENDS OF THE NEW LACE MOLDING ONTO THE BACKGLASS MOLDING.
7. CLOSE THE DECK LID.
