Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement 2.4 L
Removal Procedure
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the power steering
pressure hose (1) from the power steering gear (3).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the upper air cleaner
assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 2.4L.
- Remove the power steering pressure hose (4) from the power
steering pump pipe (5).
- Remove the power steering pressure hose (4) from the vehicle.
Installaton Procedure
- Install the power steering
pressure hose (4) to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the power
steering pressure hose (4) to the power steering pump pipe (5).
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft)
- Install the upper air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls -
2.4L.
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Install the power steering
pressure hose (1) to the power steering gear (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Bleed the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
.
Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement 3.1 L
Removal Procedure
- Remove the drive belt
from the vehicle. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
in Engine Mechanical - 3.1L.
- Remove the power steering hose retainer nut (1) from the
retainer (2).
- Remove the pressure hose (4)
from the power steering pump (1).
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the pressure hose (4) from the retainer (6).
- Remove the pressure hose (4) from the power steering gear (5).
- Remove the pressure hose (4) from the vehicle.

Tighten the pressure hose to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Install the pressure hose (4) to the retainer (6).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the pressure hose (4) to the power steering pump (1).
Tighten
Tighten the pressure hose to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
- Install the power steering
hose retainer (2).
Tighten
Tighten the retainer nut (1) to 5 N·m (45 lb in).
- Install the drive belt to the power steering pump pulley. Refer
to
Drive Belt Replacement
in
Engine Mechanical - 3.1L.
- Bleed the air from the power steering system. Refer to
Power Steering System Bleeding
