Removal Procedure
- Place a protective covering over the adjacent body panels.
- Disconnect all of the electrical connectors from the electrical
components that are attached to the rear compartment lid.
- Tie a string to the wire harness assembly.
- Pull the wire harness out of the rear compartment lid. Ensure
that there is an ample amount of string in order to feed the wire harness
back through the rear compartment lid.
Important: Enlist a helper in order to support and remove the rear compartment
lid.
- Remove the lid to hinge
bolts (2).
- Remove the rear compartment lid (1).
Installation Procedure
- Use a helper in order
to position the rear compartment lid (1) to the hinges.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
(2).
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Adjust the lid as necessary.
- Tie a string to the wire harness assembly.
- Pull the string through the rear compartment lid until the harness
is within the lid.
- Connect all of the electrical connectors to the electrical components.
