Removal Procedure
Caution: To help avoid personal injury, due to a retained load on the brake modulator,
the Gear Tension Relief function of the scan tool must be performed prior
to removal of the ABS brake modulator/master cylinder assembly.
- Use the Scan Tool in order
to perform the Gear Tension Relief Sequence.
- Remove the Battery. Refer to
Battery Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the Battery tray. Refer to

- Remove the Hydraulic modulator assembly.
Installation Procedure
- Install the Hydraulic
modulator assembly to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the Hydraulic
modulator assembly to the bracket mounting nut.
Tighten
Tighten the Hydraulic modulator bracket mounting nut to 30 N·m
