Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 6627-A Wheel Stud
Remover
- Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to
Wheel Removal
in Tires and Wheels.
Notice: Do not hammer on brake drum as damage to the bearing or deformation
of the drum could result.
- Remove the brake drum. Refer to
Brake Drum Replacement
in Drum Brakes.
- Remove the wheel stud (2)
using the J 6627-A
.
- Dispose of the stud (2).
Installation Procedure
- Install a new stud. Insert
the stud from the back side of the hub.
- Install 4 flat washers (1) on the stud.
- Install the wheel nut (2) with the flat side toward the
washers (1).
- Tighten the nut (2) until the stud head is properly seated
in the hub flange.
- Remove the nut (2) and washers (1).
- Install the brake drum. Refer to
Brake Drum Replacement
in Drum Brakes.
- Install the wheel and tire assembly. Refer to
Wheel Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
