Removal Procedure

  1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  3. Remove the wheel drive shaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.

  4. Object Number: 174602  Size: SH
  5. Remove the bolts (6) and the nuts (2) that attach the steering knuckle (3) to the strut (1).
  6. Remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the steering knuckle (3) into the strut flange.
  2. Install the steering knuckle bolts (6) and the nuts (2).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the wheel drive shaft. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement in Wheel Drive Shafts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts (2) to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  6. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  7. Inspect the front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
