Removal Procedure

J 42872 Fill Limiter Vent Valve Tool

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  3. Drain the fuel tank (1). Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  4. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. Remove the fuel vapor pipe quick connect from the fuel sender assembly. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  6. Remove the fuel pipes from the fuel pipe clamp (3).
  7. Turn the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly (2) clockwise using J 42872 Fill Limiter Vent Valve Tool.
  8. Remove the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly from the fuel tank (1).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 183099  Size: SH

    Important: The Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) O-ring must be replaced if the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly is to be reused.

  1. Install the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) assembly (2) to the fuel tank (1).
  2. Turn the Fill Limiter Vent Valve (FLVV) counter-clockwise using J 42872
  3. Fill Limiter Vent Valve Tool.

  4. Install the fuel pipes in the fuel pipe clamp (3).
  5. Install the fuel vapor pipe quick connect to the fuel sender assembly . Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  6. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement .
  7. Refill the tank.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.
  9. Inspect for fuel leaks through the following steps:
  10. 8.1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds.
    8.2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position for ten seconds.
    8.3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    8.4. Check for fuel leaks.
