Makes šŸ¢’ Oldsmobile šŸ¢’ 2004 šŸ¢’ Bravada - 2WD šŸ¢’ Transmission/Transaxle šŸ¢’ Automatic Transmission - 4L60-E/4L65-E šŸ¢’ Torque Converter Clutch Valve and Spring Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Remove the transmission filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 298154 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the torque converter clutch (TCC) pulse width modulation (PWM) solenoid electrical connector.
  3. Remove the TCC PWM solenoid retainer.
  4. Remove the TCC PWM solenoid in order to access the TCC control solenoid bolts.

    5. Object Number: 71463 Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the TCC control solenoid connector.
  6. Remove the TCC control solenoid retaining bolts.
  7. Remove the TCC control solenoid.

    8. Object Number: 102558 Size: SH

    Caution: Valve springs can be tightly compressed. Use care when removing retainers and plugs. Personal injury could result.

  8. Remove the TCC valve retainer ring (1).

    9. Object Number: 43320 Size: SH
  9. Remove the following parts:
    10. ā€¢ The valve bore plug
    ā€¢ The TCC valve
    ā€¢ The TCC valve spring(s)

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 43320 Size: SH

    Important: 

       ā€¢ Clean and inspect the TCC solenoid O-ring for cuts, nicks, and damage. Replace if necessary.
       ā€¢ Inspect the TCC bore for sediment and debris. Flush the bore if necessary.
       ā€¢ Clean and inspect the TCC valve for binding, scoring, and damage.
       ā€¢ Inspect the TCC spring for cracks and deformed or broken coils.

  1. Install the following parts:
    2. ā€¢ The TCC valve spring
    ā€¢ The TCC valve
    ā€¢ The valve bore plug

    Object Number: 102558 Size: SH
  2. Install the TCC valve retainer ring (1).
  3. Install the TCC control solenoid.
  4. Install the TCC control solenoid retaining bolts.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 8-14 NĀ·m (71-124 lb in).

  5. Connect the TCC control solenoid connector.
  6. Install the TCC PWM solenoid.
  7. Install the TCC PWM solenoid retainer.

    8. Object Number: 298154 Size: SH
  8. Connect the TCC PWM Solenoid electrical connector.
  9. Install the transmission filter. Refer to Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter Replacement .
