When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME

2002 Oldsmobile Bravada (GMT360) - Modifications required to allow second design console shift plate to fit to first design console.

For the 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, the floor console shift plate attaching points were redesigned mid-year. When ordering a shift plate from GMSPO, you may see a note advising the shift plate must be replaced together with a complete floor console assembly on vehicles built prior to VINs with the last six numbers of 384106. The first design shift plate is no longer available. This is to advise you of two small modifications that can be made which will allow the second design shift plate to be used on the first design console. First, locate the center attaching point on the left side of the console next to the shifter. You will find a slot and a hole. Remove the material between the slot and hole to create one long slot. Next, remove the locating pin on the underside of the new shift plate at the right rear corner next to the attaching screw hole. With these two modifications, the second design shift plate will fit the first design console eliminating the need to replace the console assembly.

An instruction sheet with these modifications will soon be included with the new shift plates and the message will be removed from the GMSPO parts catalog.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
