INFO. ON REPLACEMENT OF DRIVE AXLE SEALS (BOOT)

THIS BULLETIN IS BEING REVISED TO ADD WARRANTY INFORMATION.

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON REPLACEMENT OF DRIVE AXLE SEALS (BOOT)

MODELS: 1995 OLDSMOBILE AURORA WITH 4.0L ENGINE (VIN C - RPO L47)

SERVICE PARTS FOR THE DRIVE AXLE SEALS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

NOTE:

VEHICLES BUILT UP TO VIN 101777 WILL HAVE THE TRIPOT-STYLE DRIVE AXLE. VEHICLES BUILT WITH VIN 101778 AND ABOVE WILL HAVE THE S-PLAN STYLE.

FOR VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY:

IF THE INBOARD JOINT ON THE DRIVE AXLE HAS A LARGE EARED CLAMP, THEN IT IS A TRIPOT-STYLE DRIVE AXLE. ANY SEAL REPAIR MUST BE DONE BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE INBOARD JOINT. THE INBOARD JOINT AND SEAL SERVICE KIT TO BE USED IS P/N 26044405. THIS JOINT REPLACEMENT WILL THEN CHANGE THE DRIVE AXLE TO AN S-PLAN STYLE.

FOR VEHICLES REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, USE:

LABOR OPERATION NUMBER: T2581 LABOR TIME: 1.0 HR.

FOR VEHICLES OUT OF WARRANTY:

NORMAL SERVICE ON THE SEALS SHOULD BE BY SEAL KIT. FOR THE LARGE EARED CLAMP (TRIPOT-STYLE), USE INBOARD SEAL SERVICE KIT, P/N 26035212. FOR THE LARGE EARLESS CLAMP (S-PLAN), USE SEAL SERVICE KIT, P/N 26044385.

PARTS ARE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FROM GMSPO.
