THIS BULLETIN IS DESIGNED TO BE A DCS MESSAGE AND WILL BE SENT TO SELECTED OLDS AND PONTIAC DEALERS.
CONDITION: A SMALL NUMBER OF 1992 N CARS WITH 3.3L (VIN N) ENGINES MAY HAVE BEEN BUILT WITH TWO (2) A/C COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BOLTS INCORRECTLY TORQUED. THESE TWO BOLTS ARE AT THE "REAR" OF THE COMPRESSOR, AND ARE ADJACENT TO EACH OTHER ON THE ENGINE COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BRACKET (AS SEEN BY STANDING UNDER THE LEFT FRONT -DRIVER'S SIDE- OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND LOOKING UP TOWARD THE RIGHT -PASSENGER SIDE- OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
1. RAISE THE VEHICLE ON THE HOIST (SEE SERVICE MANUAL SECTION 0A). 2. THE BOLT CLOSER TO THE ENGINE ATTACHES THE SUPPORT BRACKET FOR THE EVAPORATOR OUTLET HOSE TO THE COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BRACKET. IN THE N CAR SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 1B-30, FIGURE 28, OF THE TWO BOLTS LABELED NUMBER 13, TORQUE THE BOLT SHOWN AT THE RIGHT EDGE OF THE FIGURE TO 41 N.M (30 LB. FT.). 3. THE BOLT TOWARD THE FRONT OF THE CAR ATTACHES THE COMPRESSOR TO THE ENGINE COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BRACKET. IN THE N CAR SERVICE MANUAL, PAGE 1B-27, FIGURE 22, BOLT NUMBER 2, TORQUE TO 26 N.M (19 LB. FT.). 4. LOWER THE VEHICLE.
