Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.

  3. Object Number: 605322  Size: SH
  4. Remove the 2 front A/C compressor mounting bolts.

  5. Object Number: 281146  Size: SH
  6. Remove the 4 rear A/C compressor to P/S lower bracket bolts.
  7. Move the A/C compressor assembly out of the way.

  8. Object Number: 379994  Size: SH
  9. Remove the top 2 power steering bracket bolts from the cylinder head.
  10. Remove the 2 bolts holding the power steering pump to the lower bracket and remove bracket.

  12. Disconnect the AIR pump outlet tube from the AIR check valve/pipes assembly.
  13. Remove the 4 attaching nuts (1) holding the AIR check valve/pipes assembly (2) to the exhaust manifold and remove the assembly.

Installation


    Object Number: 641804  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the AIR check valve/pipes assembly to the exhaust manifold studs with the 4 attaching nuts.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 nuts to 14 N·m (10 lb ft).

  3. Connect the AIR pump outlet tube to the AIR check valve/pipes assembly.

  5. Install the power steering lower bracket and 2 attaching bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  7. Install the top 2 power steering bracket bolts to the cylinder head.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  9. Move the A/C compressor into place and install the 2 front A/C compressor bolts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the 2 front bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  11. Install the 4 rear A/C compressor to P/S bracket bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the 4 rear bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  13. Install the Drive Belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
