Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 198233 Size: SH
  1. Relieve fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Remove the negative battery cable.
  4. Remove the pressure regulator vacuum hose.
  5. Remove the pressure regulator attaching screw (1).
  6. Important: If the fuel pressure regulator is to be reinstalled, inspect filter screen for contamination. If contaminated, remove and discard.

  7. Remove the pressure regulator assembly (2) and O-ring (3) (discard O-ring).

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 198233 Size: SH
  1. Lubricate new pressure regulator O-ring (3) with clean engine oil, then install on pressure regulator.
  2. Install the pressure regulator assembly (2) onto the fuel rail (4).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the pressure regulator attaching screw (1) coated with appropriate thread-locking material.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the pressure regulator attaching screw to 12N·m (106 lb in).

  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Inspect for leaks through the following procedure:
  8. 5.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
5.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    5.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    5.4. Check for fuel leaks.
