Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. For a 2WD vehicle, skip steps 6 and 7.
  4. For a 4WD vehicle, skip steps 4 and 5.

  5. Remove the AIR shield mounting bolts.

  7. Remove the AIR shield.

  9. Remove the retaining bolts from the steering linkage shield.

  11. Remove the steering linkage shield.

  13. Remove the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly from the pump assembly by loosening the spring clamp.

  14. Object Number: 379908  Size: SH
  15. Remove the AIR injection reactor pump hose from the pump assembly by loosening the spring clamp.

  17. Disconnect the AIR pump and solenoid electrical connectors.

  18. Object Number: 373107  Size: SH
  19. Remove the AIR pump mounting bolts.

  20. Object Number: 373104  Size: SH
  21. Remove the AIR pump.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the AIR pump bracket with the mounting holes.

  2. Object Number: 373107  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the AIR pump mounting bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Connect the AIR pump and solenoid electrical connectors.

  7. Connect the AIR injection reactor pump hose to the pump assembly with a hose clamp.

  8. Object Number: 373100  Size: SH
  9. Install the AIR injection reactor pipe assembly to the pump assembly with a hose clamp.
  10. For a 2WD vehicle, skip steps 9 and 10.
  11. For a 4WD vehicle, skip steps 7 and 8.

  12. Align the AIR shield.

  13. Object Number: 372939  Size: SH
  14. Install the AIR shield mounting bolts.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  16. Align the steering linkage shield.

  17. Object Number: 325346  Size: SH
  18. Install the linkage shield mounting bolts.
  19. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  20. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  21. Connect the negative battery cable.
