Did you perform the interior lights system check?

Connect a test lamp from CKT 40 (ORN) at the inoperative lamp to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Repair the open in CKT 40 (ORN) between the console courtesy lamp(s) and the IP fuse block.

Is the repair complete?

--

  1. Open both doors.
  2. Turn the instrument panel dimmer switch to the ON position.
  3. Connect a test lamp from CKT 40 (ORN) to CKT 156 (WHT) at the inoperative lamp.

Does the test lamp function properly?

Go to Step 5

Replace the bulb if the lamp did not work.

Did the lamp stay on continually?

--

Go to Step 6

  1. Disconnect all side door jamb switches.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter from cavity A to cavity B on the inoperative side door jamb switch.
  3. Take readings with the switch open and closed. These are the correct readings:
  4. • Switch open -- 0 ohms
    • Switch closed -- ∞ ohms

Are the readings correct?

Replace the door jamb switches that have incorrect readings.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the dimmer switch.
  2. Connect the ohmmeter to the following cavities at the panel dimmer switch:
  3. • CKT 1495 (DK BLU/WHT) at cavity G
    • CKT 44 (DK GRN) at cavity K
  4. Take readings with the switch at the ON and the OFF positions.
  5. The following are the correct readings:
  6. • If the switch is in the ON position -- 0 ohms
    • If the switch is in the OFF position -- ∞ ohms

Are the readings correct?

Replace the panel dimmer switch.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the dimmer switch.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter to the following cavities at the panel dimmer switch:
  3. • CKT 1495 (DK BLU/WHT) at cavity G
    • CKT 44 (DK GRN) at cavity K
  4. The following readings are correct:
  5. • If the switch is in the ON position -- 0 ohms
    • If the switch is in the OFF position -- ∞ ohms

Are the readings correct?

Replace the panel dimmer switch.

Repair the following opens or shorts:

    • CKT 1495 (DK BLU/WHT) between the headlamp switch and the truck body control modules.
    • CKT 44 (DK GRN) between the IP fuse block and the headlamp switch
