Removal Procedure
- Apply the park brake.
- Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts.
- Remove the master cylinder.
Support the master cylinder.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the vacuum booster.
- Remove the retainer.
- Remove the switch from the brake pedal.
- Remove the magnesium beam. Refer to Magnesium Beam Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the pushrod.
- Remove the nuts from the vacuum booster.
Remove the nuts from inside the vehicle.
- Remove the vacuum booster assembly.
- Remove the gasket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the vacuum booster assembly and the gasket.
- Install the nuts on the vacuum booster.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft ).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the magnesium beam. Refer to Magnesium Beam Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Position the pushrod on the brake pedal.
- Install the switch and the retainer to the brake pedal.
- Install the vacuum hose on the vacuum booster.
- Gauge the booster pushrod. Refer to
Power Brake Booster Push Rod Gauging
.
- Install the master cylinder. Refer to
Master Cylinder Replacement
.
- Install the master cylinder nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 36 N·m (27 lb ft ).
