- Install the shackle to the rear spring eye.
- Install the following parts:
• | The shackle to spring nut |
- Install the spring assembly to the vehicle.
- Install the following parts:
• | The spring to front bracket bolt |
- Install the following parts:
• | The shackle to the frame bolt |
- Remove the spring support.
- Install the spare tire.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the following
parts:
Tighten
• | Tighten the U-bolt nuts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). |
• | Then tighten the U-bolt nuts to 100 N·m (73 lb ft). |

- Support the axle
in such a way that there is a distance of 170 mm ± 6 (6.7 in
± 0.24 in) between the axle tube and the bumper bracket metal
surface.
Tighten
Tighten the front bracket nut and the rear shackle nuts to 122 N·m
(89 lb ft).
- Install the shock absorber.
