Makes 🢒 Isuzu 🢒 1998 🢒 S/T Isuzu - 2WD 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Exhaust 🢒 Exhaust Manifold Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Raise the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 42940 Size: SH
  2. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.

    3. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  3. Remove the front tires to gain access to the rear exhaust manifold bolts.
  4. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.

    5. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  5. Perform the following steps for the left side exhaust manifold.
    6. • Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe from the exhaust manifold.
    • Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.
    • Remove the upper radiator hose support and nut.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and the stud.

    8. Object Number: 173197 Size: SH
  8. Remove the exhaust manifold and the heat shields from the engine.

    9. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Removal .

  9. Clean all gasket surfaces.

    10. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Clean and Inspect .

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 173197 Size: SH
  1. Install the exhaust manifold, NEW gaskets, and heat shields to the engine.

    2. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation .

  2. Raise the vehicle.

    3. Object Number: 172982 Size: SH
  3. Perform the following steps for the left side exhaust manifold.
    4. • Connect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe to the exhaust manifold.
    • Refer to Exhaust Manifold Installation .
    • Connect the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT) electrical connector.
    • Install the upper radiator hose support and nut.
  4. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.

    5. Refer to Spark Plug Wire Harness Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  5. Connect the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.

    6. Refer to Exhaust Pipe Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  6. Install the front tires.
  7. Lower the vehicle.
