Schematic Reference: Headlights/Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Schematics

Did you review the daytime running lamps (DRL) operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Symptoms - Lighting Systems

1. Start the engine.
2. Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
3. Apply the park brake.

Are the DRLs OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Is the park brake indicator illuminated?

Go to Step 4

Go to Park Brake Indicator Inoperative in Park Brakes

Does the vehicle being worked on have air brakes?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 6

Repair a short to ground in the coil side control circuit of the DRL OFF relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 7

Repair an open or high resistance in the coil side control circuit of the DRL OFF 2 relay. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
