Schematic Reference: Wiper/Washer Schematics

DEFINITION: The high speed windshield wipers are inoperative, all other modes operate normal.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Wiper/Washer Systems

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch through all the switch positions.

Do the windshield wipers operate normal in all modes?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Disconnect the multifunction switch connector C2.
2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the high speed control circuit terminal in the harness connector to ground.

Do the windshield wipers operate at high speed?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Test and repair the high speed control circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Go to Step 6

Replace the multifunction switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Replace the windshield wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
