Exhaust Clamps Replacement Wide Band Clamp

  1. Inspect all of the components for the following damage. Replace the damaged components as necessary:
  2. • Cracks
    • Bends
    • Stripped threads
    • Corrosion damage
    • Leaks
  3. Insert a small pipe into the small end of the sleeve. Slide the sleeve back onto the pipe.
  4. Install the pipes. Insert the small pipe into the large pipe.
  5. Slide the sleeve over the pipe joint.
  6. Install the block and the spacer bars.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts until the spacer bars and the sleeve are clamped to the block. Do not exceed 80 N·m (59 lb ft).

Exhaust Clamps Replacement U-Bolt Clamp

  1. Inspect all of the components for the following damage. Replace the damaged components as necessary:
  2. • Cracks
    • Bends
    • Stripped threads
    • Corrosion
  3. Insert the exhaust clamp through the muffler hanger assembly.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the nut on the exhaust clamp.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 60 N·m (44 lb ft).

    • Bends
    • Stripped threads
    • Corrosion damage
    • Leaks
