Check the transmission for improper lubricant. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers.

Is the recommended lubricant being used?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Replenish the oil to the level of the oil fill plug.

Drain and refill the transmission with the recommended lubricant. Refer to Transmission Fluid Replacement.

Check for loose clutch housing bolts. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications.

Are the bolts tightened to specifications?

Go to Step 6

  1. Remove the transmission. Refer to Transmission Replacement.
  2. Disassemble the transmission. Refer to Transmission Disassemble.
  3. Look for the following list of causes:
  4. • Gearshift components are worn or damaged.
    • Transmission gears are worn or damaged.
    • Bearing components are worn or damaged.
  5. Replace all worn or damaged parts.

Tighten the clutch housing bolts to the specified torque.
