Assist Step Replacement Tubular BVE
Removal Procedure
- Remove the nuts and the bolts.
- Remove the assist step from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Perform the following procedure before installing the bolts.
• | Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. |
• | Clean the threads of the bolt with denatured alcohol or equivalent and allow to dry. |
• | Apply Threadlocker GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489). |
Important: Using a level, secure the fasteners for the 2 inner brackets first. The assist step should be held level in relationship to the vehicle. Secure the fasteners for the outer brackets after the inner fasteners have been
torqued.
- Install the assist step to the vehicle. An assistant may be necessary for this step.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the nuts and the bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (39 lb ft).
Assist Step Replacement Removable U Step
Removal Procedure
- Remove the securing knob.
- Remove the step from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the step to the vehicle.
- Install the securing knob and hand tighten.

| Assist Step Bolts (Qty: 4)
Tighten Tighten the bolts to 85 N·m (63 lb ft). |

| Front Assist Step
- Position the ears of the assist step between the rocker protector and the rocker molding.
- Insert the bolts through the flanges of the rocker protector and into the ears on the assist step.
- Install the inboard bolts first and finger tighten.
- Install the outboard bolts last and finger tighten.
- Tighten all the bolts to the above specified torque value.

| Rear Assist Step
- Position the ears of the assist step between the rocker protector and the rocker molding.
- Insert the bolts through the flanges of the rocker protector and into the ears on the assist step.
- Install the inboard bolts first and finger tighten.
- Install the outboard bolts last and finger tighten.
- Tighten all the bolts to the above specified torque value.
