Disassembly Procedure
- Use the following procedure in order to test the operation of the one-way clutch:
- Remove the No. 2 planetary carrier thrust washer (1, 9) from both sides of the carrier.
- Disassemble the one-way clutch (4) by removing the following components from the one-way clutch:
- Remove the snap rings (2, 6) on both sides of the one-way clutch (4).
- Remove the two side retainers (3, 5).
- Remove the one-way clutch (4) from the outer race (7).
| 1.1. | Turn the hub clockwise while holding the outer race. |
Verify that the hub turns freely.
| 1.2. | Turn the hub counterclockwise while holding the outer race. |
Verify that the hub locks.

Assembly Procedure
- Install the one-way clutch into the outer race.
- Install the retainers (3, 5).
- Install the two snap rings (2, 6).
- Install the planetary gear into the one-way clutch.
- Test the operation of the one-way clutch.
- Install the No. 2 planetary carrier thrust washers (1, 9) onto both sides of the carrier.
- Coat the thrust washers with petroleum jelly.
- Align the tab of the thrust washers with the hollow of the carrier.
The flanged side (1) of the one-way clutch should face inward from the shiny side (2) of the outer race.
The inner race of the planetary gear should face inward from the back side of the outer race.
