🢒 Steering Linkage Outer Tie Rod Replacement
Removal Procedure
Raise and support the vehicle on an alignment rack. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
Remove the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Mark the threads on the inner tie rod to aid in repositioning the adjusting nut.
Remove the outer tie rod nut and disconnect the outer tie rod from the steering knuckle.
Loosen the outer tie rod adjusting nut.
Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod.
Installation Procedure
Reposition the adjusting nut to the marks on the inner tie rod.
Install the outer tie rod onto the inner tie rod.
Connect the outer tie rod to the steering knuckle.
Caution:
Refer to
Fastener Caution
in the Preface section.
Install the outer tie rod nut and tighten to
50 N·m (37 lb ft)
.
Measure the wheel alignment. Refer to
Wheel Alignment Measurement
.
Adjust the front toe if necessary. Refer to
Front Toe Adjustment
.
Tighten the adjusting nut to
60 N·m (44 lb ft)
.
Install the front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.
Lower the vehicle.
