  1. Clean the crankshaft balancer in solvent.
  2. Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Dry the crankshaft balancer with compressed air.
  4. Inspect the crankshaft balancer for the following conditions:
  5. • Damaged belt grooves (3)
    • Debris in the belt grooves (3)
    • Worn, grooved, or damaged hub seal surface (1)
       - Minor imperfections on the hub seal surface may be removed with a polishing compound or fine grade of emery cloth.
       - A crankshaft balancer hub seal surface with excessive scoring, grooves, rust, or other damage must be replaced.
    • Worn, chunking, or deteriorated rubber between the hub and pulley (2)
  6. Repair or replace the crankshaft balancer, as necessary.
