  1. Turn the ignition on.
  2. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch through all of the delay positions.

Does the windshield wiper delay function operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper/washer switch pigtail connector.
  2. Test the resistance through the windshield wiper/washer switch from the accessory voltage supply circuit terminal to the switch signal circuit terminal.
  3. Turn the windshield wiper/washer switch through all of the delay positions.

Does the resistance increase from positions 1- 5 within the specified values?

25K ohms-435K ohms

  1. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.
  2. Test and repair the windshield wiper/washer switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test and repair the windshield wiper motor accessory voltage supply circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the windshield wiper/washer switch.
