Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the exhaust system as necessary. Refer to General Exhaust System Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  3. Remove the heat shields from the vehicle. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement in Engine Exhaust.

  4. Object Number: 301721  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the heater hose connections from the front inlet and outlet pipe.
  6. Disconnect the heater hose connections from the rear heater pipes.
  7. Remove the retainers from the vehicle body.
  8. Remove the intermediate heater pipe from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 301721  Size: SH
  1. Connect the intermediate heater pipe to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the retainers to the vehicle body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the retainers to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  5. Connect the heater hose connections to the rear heater pipes.
  6. Connect the heater hose connections to the front inlet and outlet pipe.
  7. Install the heat shields to the vehicle. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  8. Install the exhaust system as necessary. Refer to General Exhaust System Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  9. Fill the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
