Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the linear
shift assembly and secure using the 3 flat head 6 lobed socket
tap screws.
Tighten
Tighten the flat head 6 lobed socket tap screws to 10 N·m
(89 lb in).
- To install the park lock cable assembly, proceed to steps 9 and
10.
- To install the linear shift assembly piece by piece, proceed to
the next step.
Important: Lubricate all of the moving parts of the linear shift assembly with
synthetic grease.
- Install the gear shift lever assembly support bracket onto the steering
column support assembly.
- Screw the 3 flat head tapping screws into the gear shift
lever assembly.
