Lower Control Arm Bushings Replacement - Front Rear Wheel Drive

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 21474-01 Control Arm Bushing Service Set
    • J 21474-2 Flaring Tool
    • J 21474-5 Receiver Tool
    • J 21474-12 Lower Control Arm Bushing Installer Spacer
    • J 21474-13 Lower Control Arm Front and Rear Bushing Installer
    • J 21474-18 Special Nut
    • J 21474-19 Special Bolt
    • J 21474-20 Lower Control Arm Front Bushing Installer
    • J 21474-23 Lower Control Arm Front Bushing Remover
    • J 22222-5 Lower Control Arm Front Bushing Spacer
  1. Remove the lower control arm. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  2. Place the lower control arm in a vise.

  3. Object Number: 1871  Size: SH
  4. Using a blunt chisel, drive the bushing flare down flush with the rubber part of the bushing.
  5. Remove the front bushing.
  6. 4.1. Install the J 21474-5 , the J 21474-18 , the J 21474-19 , the J 21474-23 and the J 22222-5 as shown.
    4.2. Tighten until the front bushing comes free.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1872  Size: SH
  1. Install the front bushing.
  2. 1.1. Install the J 21474-5 , the J 21474-12 , the J 21474-18 , the J 21474-19 and the J 21474-20 as shown. The lip is on the outside of the control arm.
    1.2. Tighten until the front bushing seats fully into the lower control arm.
  3. Flare the front bushing.
  4. 2.1. Install the J 21474-5 , the J 21474-12 , the J 21474-18 , the J 21474-19 and the J 21474-20 as shown.
    2.2. Tighten until the bushing is flared to approximately 45 degrees.
  5. Remove the lower control arm from the vise.
  6. Install the lower control arm. Refer to Upper Control Arm Replacement .
