Some models use an audio alarm system in order to remind the driver to perform the following steps before exiting the vehicle:

A tone generator will sound three to five times and turn on a warning light on the instrument cluster any time that the ignition switch is turned ON and the driver's seat belt is not buckled. The tone generator will chime any time that the ignition switch is turned OFF and the headlamps are on in order to remind the driver that the headlamps are on. The tone generator will also sound any time that the driver's door is open and the key is left in the ignition lock cylinder. The tone generator plugs into the convenience center.
