Removal Procedure
- Remove the driver's knee
bolster. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts that retain the brackets to the instrument panel
trim pad.
- Roll the instrument panel back, but do not remove the instrument
panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the bolts that retain the knee bolster brackets to the
instrument panel carrier.
- Remove the knee bolster brackets from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the knee bolster brackets to the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the bolts
that retain the brackets to the instrument panel carrier.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to the brackets to the instrument panel carrier to
10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the instrument panel to the vehicle. Refer to
Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement
.
- Install the bolts that retain the brackets to the instrument panel
trim pad.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts that retain the bracket to the instrument panel to
10 N·m (89 lb in).
- Install the driver's knee
bolster. Refer to
Driver Knee Bolster Replacement
.
