Removal Procedure
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

    2. Object Number: 178963 Size: SH
  2. Remove the top shock absorber nut, the washers, and the bolt.

    3. Object Number: 178961 Size: SH
  3. Remove the bottom shock absorber nut and the bolt (left hand).

    4. Object Number: 178955 Size: SH
  4. Remove the bottom shock absorber bolt, the park brake cable bracket, and nut from the lower shock absorber bracket (right hand).
  5. Remove the shock absorber from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the shock absorber to the vehicle.

    2. Object Number: 178955 Size: SH
  2. Install the bottom shock absorber bolt, the parking brake bracket, and the nut to the shock absorber bracket (right hand).

    3. Object Number: 178961 Size: SH
  3. Install the bottom shock absorber bolt and the shock absorber nut (left hand).

    4. Object Number: 178963 Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the top shock absorber bolt, the washers, and the nut.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the upper nuts and the lower nuts to 107 N·m (79 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
