Maintenance Schedule - Short Trip/City Diesel

The services shown in this schedule up to 160 000 km (100,000 miles) should be performed after 160 000 km (100,000 miles) at the same intervals. The services shown at 240 000 km (150,000 miles) should be performed at the same intervals after 240 000 km (150,000 miles).

4 000 Km (2,500 Miles)

    • Change the engine oil and the filter. An Emission Control Service.
        If 3 months pass before 4 000 km (2,500 miles), then change the oil after 3 months.
    • Lubricate the following components:
       - The front suspension
       - The steering linkage
       - The transmission shift linkage
       - The parking brake cable guides
       - The rear driveline center splines
       - The brake pedal springs
       - The ball joints
       - Only lubricate the ball joints if the temperature of the ball joint is -12°C (10°F) or higher.

8 000 Km (5,000 Miles)

    • Change the engine oil and the filter. An Emission Control Service.
        If 3 months pass before 8 000 km (5,000 miles), then change the oil after 3 months.
    • Lubricate the following components:
       - The front suspension
       - The steering linkage
       - The transmission shift linkage
       - The parking brake cable guides
       - The rear driveline center splines
       - The brake pedal springs
       - The ball joints
       - Only lubricate the ball joints if the temperature of the ball joint is -12°C (10°F) or higher.
    • For engine code Y only, adjust the engine idle speed to the specifications shown on the underhood label using calibrated test equipment. Verify that the idle stop solenoid or dashpot works properly (if equipped).
    • Inspect the rear axle fluid level and add fluid if necessary.

12 000 Km (7,500 Miles)

    • Change the engine oil and the filter. An Emission Control Service.
        If 3 months pass before 12 000 km (7,500 miles), then change the oil after 3 months.
    • Lubricate the following components:
       - The front suspension
       - The steering linkage
       - The transmission shift linkage
       - The parking brake cable guides
       - The rear driveline center splines

        If 3 months pass before 16 000 km (10,000 miles), then change the oil after 3 months.
    • Lubricate the following components:
       - The front suspension
       - The steering linkage
       - The transmission shift linkage
       - The parking brake cable guides
       - The rear driveline center splines
       - The brake pedal springs
       - The ball joints
       - Only lubricate the ball joints if the temperature of the ball joint is -12° C (10° F) or higher.
    • Inspect the shields and the underhood insulation for damage or looseness. Adjust or replace as required. This is a Noise Emission Control Service.
    • Inspect the air intake system installation in order to ensure that the gaskets are properly sealed and that the following components remain tight:
       - The hose connections
       - The fasteners
       - Other components
    • Inspect the air cleaner housing in order to ensure the following conditions:
       - The air cleaner housing seats properly.
       - The cover fits tightly.
       - The wing nuts are tight.
    • Tighten the connections and the fasteners or replace damaged components if necessary. This is a Noise Emission Control Service.
    • If the engine has a thermostatically controlled cooling fan, inspect the following:
       - All hoses and ducts for proper hook-up
       - Inspect the valve for proper operation

    • Inspect the rear axle fluid level.
