Problem

Action

Air in the fluid or loss of fluid due to internal pump leakage causing an overflow.

Important: Extremely cold temperatures will cause system aeration if the power steering fluid is low. If the oil level is correct and the pump still foams, remove the pump from the vehicle and separate the reservoir from the housing. Inspect the welsh plug and the housing for cracks. If the plug is loose or the housing is cracked, replace the housing.

  1. Locate and repair the leak.
  2. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
