Noise When Vehicle Is Coasting

Problem

Action

Rear axle noises heard on drive will usually be heard also on coasting, although not as loud.

Adjust or replace the differential drive pinion gear and the ring gear set.

Adjust the differential drive pinion gear to the ring gear backlash.

DEFINITION: A noise is present when the vehicle turns.

The differential side gears and the pinion gears are worn.

Replace the worn parts.
