The powertrain control module (PCM) and the electronic brake control module (EBCM) (ABS air), are accessed by the scan tool through CKT 1921 (TAN/BLK). The scan tool also accesses the PCM through CKT 1807 (PPL). On gas models, the PCM is accessed through CKT 461 (ORN) and CKT 448 (WHT/BLK). The scan tool accesses the EBCM (ABS hydraulic), through CKT 799 (TAN/WHT).
These communication lines monitor the modules for diagnostic purposes and checks for diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). Voltage is applied at all times to the DLC through the HORNS circuit breaker. The DLC is permanently grounded to G102.
In order to prevent electrical interference from other outside sources, you must maintain this relationship when making any repairs to these wires. The pair of wires shown must be twisted a minimum of 12 turns per 30.5 cm (12 in.) as measured anywhere along the length of the wires. The outside diameter of the twisted pair of wires must not exceed 6.0 mm (0.236 in.)
