CAMPAIGN: AXLE SHAFT END PLAY CHECKING PROCEDURE

1978-1980 CABALLERO

This bulletin is a supplement to Truck Service Bulletin 80-C-11 and reflects a labor allowance change for the additional time required to install studs (hub bolts) in axle shafts. This affects labor operations V247300 and V247200 listed below.

This labor time will be effective with receipt of this bulletin.

Warranty Information

Dealers should submit an accurately filled out Warranty Repair Order on each vehicle completed.

V247100 Inspect axle code and check end play. 0.3 Hr. 96

V247200 Inspect axle code, check end play and button 0.5 Hr. 96 thickness and replace pinion shaft if necessary.

V247300 Inspect axle code, check end play and button 0.8 Hr. 96 thickness. Replace one axle shaft and pinion shaft (incl. install axle studs)**

V247400 Inspect axle code, check end play and button 0.9 Hr. 96 thickness. Replace two axle shafts and pinion shaft (incl. install axle studs).**

*For dealer to receive Administrative Time Allowance associated with this service, add 0.1 hour to the Labor Operation Time Allowance.

** When replacing an axle shaft NEW STUDS (hub bolts) part number 9590271 are to be used.
