Removal Procedure

  1. Ignition OFF.
  2. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  3. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  4. The following components are replaced as an assembly.
  5. •  Intermediate brake pipe
    • Right rear brake pipe
    • EVAP pipe
    • fuel feed pipe

    Caution: Refer to Gasoline/Gasoline Vapors Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Relief the fuel pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief.
  7. Caution: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in the Preface section.

    Caution: Refer to Safety Glasses Caution in the Preface section.

  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  9. Remove the exhaust. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement.
  10. Remove the right side exhaust front heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Front Heat Shield Replacement
  11. Remove the fuel tank assembly. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.

  13. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  14. Disconnect the EVAP pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
  15. Disconnect the intermediate brake pipe from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) and the right rear union. Refer to Brake Pipe Replacement
  16. Disconnect the right rear brake pipe from the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) and the right rear brake hose. Refer to Brake Pipe Replacement

  17. Object Number: 2169831  Size: SH

    Note:  Leave the rear stone guard (2) attached to the pipe assembly (3).

  18. Remove the rear stone guard to chassis retaining nuts (1).

  19. Object Number: 2175764  Size: SH
  20. Remove the pipe assembly mounting brackets to chassis retaining rivets (1).
  21. Remove the pipe assembly (2) from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2175764  Size: SH
  1. Install the pipe assembly (2) to the vehicle.
  2. Install the pipe assembly mounting brackets to chassis retaining rivets (1).

  3. Object Number: 2169833  Size: SH
  4. Install the rear stone guard to chassis retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 5.0 N·m (44 lb-in).
  5. Connect the right rear brake pipe to the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) and the right rear brake hose. Refer to Brake Pipe Replacement
  6. Connect the intermediate brake pipe to the brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) and the right rear union. Refer to Brake Pipe Replacement

  7. Object Number: 2169830  Size: SH
  8. Connect the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  9. Connect the EVAP pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service.
  10. Install the fuel tank assembly. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement.
  11. Install the right side exhaust heat shields. Refer to Exhaust Front Heat Shield Replacement.
  12. Install the exhaust. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement.
  13. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
