Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 LLT

J-37281-A Injector Remover

Removal Procedure
  1. Ignition OFF

    2. Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.

  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  3. Remove the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
  4. Remove the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
  5. Remove the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
  6. Relieve the high side fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief.
  7. Relieve the low side fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief.
  8. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
  9. Remove and discard the fuel feed intermediate pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement.
  10. Remove and discard the fuel injection fuel rail crossover tube. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Crossover Tube Replacement.
  11. Remove and discard the fuel feed pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement.
  12. Remove the noise insulator from the fuel injection fuel rail assembly.
  13. Disconnect the fuel pressure sensor electrical connector.

  14. Remove the fuel injection fuel rail to cylinder head bolts (1).
  15. Carefully manoeuvre and detach the fuel injection fuel rail (2) from the injectors.
  16. Carefully manoeuvre and remove the fuel injection fuel rail (2) from the engine.
  17. Remove the right cylinder bank fuel injectors. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1977754 Size: SH

    Note: Fuel injectors must be rebuilt whenever fuel injector seating has been disturbed.

    Note: Any damaged fuel injectors must be replaced.

  1. Rebuild/replace and install the fuel injectors (1) to the right cylinder bank. Refer to Fuel Injector Replacement

    2. Object Number: 1977744 Size: SH
  2. Lubricate the fuel rail fuel injector cups with silicon free engine oil GM P/N 12345610 or an equivalent.
  3. Carefully manoeuvre and install the fuel injector fuel rail (2) to the engine.
  4. Carefully attach the fuel injector fuel rail (2) to the fuel injectors.

    5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

    Note: The fuel injector fuel rail bolts (1) must be tightened evenly.

  5. Install the fuel injector fuel rail bolts (2). Hand tighten only at this stage.

  6. Tighten the injector fuel rail bolts in the sequence shown:
    7. • First pass 12 N·m (106 lb in).
    • Final pass 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
  7. Install the high pressure fuel sensor connector.
  8. Install a NEW fuel injection fuel rail crossover tube. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Crossover Tube Replacement.
  9. Install a NEW fuel feed intermediate pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement.
  10. Install a NEW fuel feed pipe. Refer to Fuel Feed Pipe Replacement.
  11. Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
    12. • Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    • Turn OFF the ignition, for 10 seconds.
    • Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    • Inspect for fuel leaks.
  12. Install the noise insulator to the fuel rails.
  13. Install the intake manifold. Refer to Intake Manifold Replacement.
  14. Install the fuel pipe shield. Refer to Fuel Pipe Shield Replacement.
  15. Install the air inlet grille. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement
  16. Install the intake manifold sight shield. Refer to Intake Manifold Sight Shield Replacement.
  17. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
