Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement LHD

Electronic Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the engine cover.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.

  3. Object Number: 1950871  Size: SH
  4. Unscrew the retaining nut (1) used to hold the suction/liquid pipe from the TX valve.
  5. Important: Cover any opening of the A/C system with a suitable cap or tape immediately, to prevent absorption of moisture from the atmosphere.

  6. Detach the suction/liquid pipe retaining pad from the block valve.

  8. Using a suitable tool, unscrew the TX valve to evaporator retaining screws (1).
  9. Important: Place the TX valve in a plastic bag to avoid any contamination from air born dirt or moisture.

  10. Remove the TX valve from the evaporator.

  12. Remove the sealing washers from the evaporator.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1950840  Size: SH

    Important: Fit the sealing washers dry.

  1. Fit NEW sealing washers to the evaporator coil.

  2. Object Number: 1950873  Size: SH

    Important: Make sure that the E clamp that mounts to evaporator is in place before installing TX valve, to enable fitment of attaching bolt

  3. Refit the TX valve to the evaporator.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Insert and tension the TX valve to evaporator retaining screws (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 4N·m (35 lb in).

  7. Insert the suction/liquid pipe to the TX valve.
  8. Tighten the suction/liquid pipe to the TX valve nut (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 23N·m (17 lb ft).

  10. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  11. Leak test the fittings of the component using electronic leak detector.
