Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement LHD

Removal Procedure
- Remove the engine cover.
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
- Unscrew the retaining nut (1) used to hold the suction/liquid
pipe from the TX valve.
Important: Cover any opening of the A/C system with
a suitable cap or tape immediately, to prevent absorption of moisture from the atmosphere.
- Detach the suction/liquid pipe retaining pad from the block valve.
- Using a suitable tool, unscrew the TX valve to evaporator
retaining screws (1).
Important: Place the TX valve in a plastic bag to avoid
any contamination from air born dirt or moisture.
- Remove the TX valve from the evaporator.
- Remove the sealing washers from the evaporator.
Installation Procedure
Important: Fit the sealing washers dry.
- Fit NEW sealing washers to the evaporator coil.
Important: Make sure that the E clamp that mounts to
evaporator is in place before installing TX valve, to enable fitment of attaching
bolt
- Refit the TX valve to the evaporator.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Insert and tension the TX valve to evaporator retaining screws (1).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 4N·m (35 lb in).
- Insert the suction/liquid pipe to the TX valve.
- Tighten the suction/liquid pipe to the TX valve nut (1).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 23N·m (17 lb ft).
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using electronic leak detector.
