Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement.
  2. Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.

  3. Object Number: 2027873  Size: SH

    Note: Do NOT disconnect engine coolant hoses.

  4. Remove the radiator surge tank clip (2).
  5. Remove the radiator surge tank (1).
  6. Position the radiator surge tank (1) aside.

  7. Remove the BPMV bracket bolts (1).

  8. Object Number: 2027973  Size: SH
  9. Remove the brake booster bolts (1).

  10. Object Number: 2027979  Size: SH

    Note: 

       • Do NOT open hydraulic brake system.
       • Second mechanic required.

  11. Pull the brake booster and the BPMV assembly forward in order to get access to the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).
  12. Remove the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).
  13. Remove the instrument panel lower trim pad cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Pad Cover Replacement.
  14. Remove the steering column upper trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement.
  15. Remove the steering column lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement.
  16. Remove the intermediate steering shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement.
  17. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.

  18. Object Number: 2027891  Size: SH
  19. Disconnect the brake pedal pushrod (1) from the brake pedal.

  20. Object Number: 2028002  Size: SH
  21. Remove the clutch master cylinder nuts (2) from the pedal bracket, if equipped.
  22. Disconnect clutch master cylinder push rod (1) from the clutch pedal, if equipped.

  23. Object Number: 2028003  Size: SH
  24. Remove the brake pedal bracket bolt (1) from the tie bar.
  25. Separate wiring harness from pedal bracket.
  26. Disconnect electrical connectors.
  27. Remove brake and accelerator and clutch pedal assembly from vehicle.
  28. Transfer component parts as needed.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 2028003  Size: SH
  1. Install the brake and accelerator and clutch pedal assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Install wiring harness to brake pedal bracket.
  3. Connect electrical connectors.
  4. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  5. Install brake pedal bracket bolts and tighten to  20 N·m (15 lb ft).
  6. Connect clutch master cylinder push rod (1) to the clutch pedal, if equipped.

  7. Object Number: 2028002  Size: SH
  8. Install the clutch master cylinder nuts (2) to the pedal bracket, if equipped and tighten to  Xx N·m (xx lb ft).

  9. Object Number: 2027891  Size: SH
  10. Connect the brake pedal pushrod (1) to the brake pedal.
  11. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement.
  12. Install the intermediate steering shaft. Refer to Intermediate Steering Shaft Replacement.
  13. Install the steering column lower trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Lower Trim Cover Replacement.
  14. Install the steering column upper trim cover. Refer to Steering Column Upper Trim Cover Replacement.
  15. Install the instrument panel lower trim pad cover. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Pad Cover Replacement.

  16. Object Number: 2027979  Size: SH

    Note: 

       • Do NOT open hydraulic brake system.
       • Second mechanic required.

  17. Pull the brake booster and the BPMV assembly forward in order to get access to the brake pedal bracket nuts (1).
  18. Install the pedal bracket nuts (1) and tighten to  20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  19. Object Number: 2027973  Size: SH
  20. Install the brake booster bolts (1) and tighten to  xx N·m (xx lb ft).

  21. Object Number: 2027966  Size: SH
  22. Install the BPMV bracket bolts (1) and tighten to  20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  23. Object Number: 2027887  Size: SH
  24. Install the BPMV bracket assembly (1).
  25. Install the BPMV bracket bolts (2) and tighten to  20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  26. Object Number: 2027873  Size: SH

    Note: Do NOT disconnect engine coolant hoses.

  27. Install the radiator surge tank (1).
  28. Install the radiator surge tank clip (2).
  29. Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
  30. Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement.
  31. Calibrate the brake pedal position sensor. Refer to Brake Pedal Position Sensor Calibration.
