Removal Procedure
- For right-hand drive only, remove the air intake tube from the air filter housing.
- Remove the brake line fitting nuts from the master cylinder body.
- Disconnect the brake hoses from the master cylinder body. It is not necessary to drain the reservoir. Plug the opening to the brake lines to prevent the loss or contamination of the fluid.
- Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts.
- Remove the master cylinder assembly.
- Drain the brake fluid.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.
- Add brake fluid.
- Install the master cylinder assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the master cylinder mounting nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the mounting nuts to 13 N·m (10 lb ft).
- Connect the brake hoses to the master cylinder body.
- Connect the brake line fitting nuts from the master cylinder body.
Tighten
Tighten to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- On RHD only, install the air intake tube to the air filter housing.
- Bleed the brake system. Refer to the
Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding
.
- Inspect the brake system for leaks.
