Removal Procedure
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the spring clamp on the master cylinder. Remove the reservoir hose.
- Disconnect the pipe connected to the master cylinder.
- Remove the locking washer and the piston rod bolt from the clutch pedal and piston rod clevis.
- Remove the lock nuts on the master cylinder bracket. Remove the master cylinder in the direction of the engine compartment.
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.
Important: Before disconnecting the reservoir tank hose, remove the clutch/brake fluid from the reservoir tank. Right-hand drive vehicles use a separate clutch fluid reservoir.
Installation Procedure
- Install the master cylinder.
- Install the lock nuts on the master cylinder bracket.
- Install the locking washer and piston rod bolt to the clutch pedal and piston rod clevis.
- Connect the pipe to the master cylinder.
- Install the reservoir hose.
- Connect the spring clamp to the master cylinder.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Bleed the air.
- Adjust the clutch pedal.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
Tighten
Tighten the lock nuts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).
