This light tells you that the engine coolant has overheated or the engine cooling fan is not working.

The light will come on briefly when the ignition is turned on to show you that it is working.

If you have been operating your vehicle under normal driving conditions, you should pull off the road, stop the vehicle and turn off the engine as soon as possible. See Engine Overheating .
