Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1263795 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector.
  3. Disconnect the breather hoses from the valve cover.
  4. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the valve cover.
  5. Disconnect the clip at the valve cover.
  6. Remove the spark plug cover bolts and cover.

    7. Object Number: 1263797 Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the ignition wires at the spark plugs.
  8. Remove the valve cover bolts.
  9. Remove the valve cover.
  10. Remove the valve cover gasket from the cover.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1263797 Size: SH
  1. Install the new valve cover gasket to the valve cover.
  2. Install the valve cover.

    3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the valve cover bolts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the valve cover bolts to 8 N·m (71 lb in).

  4. Connect the ignition wires at the spark plugs.

    5. Object Number: 1263795 Size: SH
  5. Install the spark plug cover bolts and cover.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the spark plug cover bolts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Connect the clip at the valve cover.
  7. Install the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose to the valve cover.
  8. Install the breather hoses to the valve cover.
  9. Install the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
