Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement 1.6L

Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1263066  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
  4. Remove the temperature sensor from the cylinder head.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1263067  Size: SH
  1. Install the ECT sensor into the threaded hole in the cylinder head.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the ECT sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Connect the electrical connector to the ECT sensor.
  4. Fill the engine cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Drain the coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor.
  4. Remove the temperature sensor from the cylinder head.

  1. Install the temperature sensor to the cylinder head.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the temperature sensor to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  3. Connect the electrical connector to the ECT sensor.
  4. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  5. Connect the negative battery cable.
