Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air cleaner cover and duct assembly. Refer to Air Filter Element Replacement in Engine Controls.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  3. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Important: Cap or tape the open A/C lines immediately, to prevent system contamination.

  5. Disconnect the evaporator line at the condenser. Discard the O-ring seal and cap or tape the line and condenser.

  6. Object Number: 369018  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the compressor line at the condenser. Discard the O-ring seal and cap or tape the line and condenser.

  8. Object Number: 299228  Size: SH
  9. Remove the condenser.

Installation Procedure

    Important: DO NOT install the condenser with out the rubber insulators installed on the ends of the condenser.

  1. Install the condenser.
  2. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator line, compressor line and condenser.
  3. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C line and fittings on the condenser.
  4. Lightly coat the new O-ring seals with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil:
  5. Important: DO NOT allow any of the mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil on the new O-ring seal to enter the refrigerant system.

  6. Carefully slide the new O-ring seal (1) onto the evaporator line until seated.

  8. Carefully slide the new O-ring seal (1) onto the compressor line until seated.
  9. Allow a light coating of the refrigerant oil to remain on the compressor line in the area indicated (2) ONLY.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  10. Install the compressor line block fitting at the condenser.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (11 lb ft).

  12. Install the liquid line fitting to the condenser.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  14. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  15. Evacuate and charge the system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  16. Leak test the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing .
  17. Install the air cleaner cover and duct assembly. Refer to Air Filter Element Replacement in Engine Controls.
