Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Remove the defroster valve vacuum actuator. Refer to Defroster Valve Actuator Replacement in HVAC System -- Manual.

  3. Object Number: 395301  Size: SH
  4. Remove the air distribution case cover retaining screws.
  5. Remove the air distribution case cover.
  6. Remove and discard the air distribution case seal.
  7. Remove the linkage between the defroster valve and the heater valve on the driver's side of the HVAC module.
  8. Remove the defroster valve.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 395301  Size: SH
  1. Install the defroster valve.
  2. Connect the linkage between the defroster valve and the heater valve.
  3. Install a new air distribution case seal
  4. Install the air distribution case cover.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the air distributor case cover retaining screws.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).

  8. Install the defroster valve vacuum actuator. Refer to Defroster Valve Actuator Replacement in HVAC System -- Manual.
  9. Install the cross vehicle beam. Refer to Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
