Some production door hardware attaching screws contain an epoxy threadlocking compound. The compound ensures that the original torque setting will be maintained.
Service attaching screws may not contain a threadlocking compound. Treat the threads of the fasteners with adhesive compound GM P/N 1345382 or equivalent in order to achieve the following functions:
• | Prevent loosening of the service screws |
• | Renew the threadlocking characteristics of the production screws |
When the screws are installed and dried, the adhesive cures. The cured adhesive bonds the attachment and prevents the attachment from backing out. The adhesive bond does not prevent the future removal of the attachments. You may use an adhesive/sealant compound or equivalent on any threaded fastener.
